Salers
The Salers female shows the exceptional maternal qualities of fertility, milk capacity, ease of delivery, robustness and longevity, which guarantees the production of a calf with a high weaning weight.
Rusticity: excellent adaptation to very extensive farms where animals have to travel great distances. Highly resistant to different thermal amplitudes.
Precocity in fattening: it allows to obtain carcasses of quality, with good weight. These animals are able to adapt to extreme temperature conditions, being present in regions such as Texas, Portugal, Canada and Russia.
The Salers cows are able to mobilize their body reserves during difficult times, maintaining the production of milk for the calves. These body stores are quickly renovated when food supplies are renewed. This is called the “concertina effect”. Salers is a balanced breed, which is great in all aspects of meat production, as it produces a high-yielding carcass that shows good marbling and minimal fat.
